On 8/9/2024 at 12:00 AM a/an Flash Flood Emergency event began to impact New York City. Event related weather hazards were felt in the Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. The event lasted until 8/9/2024 at 11:59 PM. A Flood Watch was in effect citywide, with 1–2 inches of rainfall and locally higher amounts up to 5 inches at rates reaching 3 inches per hour. Intense rainfall caused flash flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, leading to minor travel disruptions.
