On 3/6/2024 at 1:00 PM a/an Flash Flood Emergency event began to impact New York City. During this event, New York City experienced Flash Flooding across all five boroughs. The event lasted until 3/7/2024 at 6:00 AM. A Flood Watch was in effect citywide, with total rainfall of 1–2 inches and locally higher amounts. The heaviest rain occurred between 4:00 PM and midnight at rates of up to 0.5 inches per hour, causing minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. NYCEM issued a Travel Advisory and activated the Flash Flood Emergency Plan, coordinating with city and state agencies to monitor roadway flooding and drainage conditions. Catch basins were cleared, and variable message signs warned of hazardous driving conditions. No major service disruptions were reported.
