Narrative
A coastal storm developed off the Carolina Coast during Saturday morning, November 1st. It moved north and passed over the Delaware Coast around 3 pm and over the local area during the evening. The storm brought strong gusty winds and rain to the area. East winds increased to 20 to 30 mph with gusts from 40 to around 50 mph during the afternoon. The highest wind gusts were 55 mph at Fire Island and 51 mph at Orient Point (Suffolk County) and 47 mph at JFK Airport (Queens County). Strong gusty winds combined with rain and downed scattered tree limbs, trees, and power lines. Rainfall amounts ranged from 0.67 inches at LaGuardia Airport (Queens County) to 1.70 inches at Westhampton (Suffolk County).
