Event Summary

Narrative

A squall line developed in a very warm and unstable air mass ahead of a cold front moving southeastward across New England. Many damaging thunderstorms formed along this squall line during the mid and late afternoon hours downing numerous trees and power lines across sections of Brooklyn and Long Island. These storms also produced some locally heavy rains that caused some brief flooding of streets and highways.
