Narrative

The storm made landfall on Long Island at 80 mph. It produced a modest storm tide of 4 to 7 feet above normal across the Atlantic. It could have produced a much stronger and intense surge if it had hit at high tide. The storm caused the largest single power loss in U.S. history to date. Total damage estimated at $900 million. Some moderate beach erosion.
