An anomalous slow moving upper level low pressure system triggered thunderstorms producing torrential rainfall which led to flash flooding in Queens and Nassau County. Impassable flooding was reported on the Cross Island Pkwy. at Union Turnpike. in Glen Oaks. Penny size hail was reported. Quarter size hail was reported near the Clearview Expressway in Bayside.
