Narrative

A powerful cold front triggered numerous severe thunderstorms from Staten Island eastward across Long Island. Nickel to quarter size hail was reported on Staten Island. A cold front moved across the area on July 27 which produced thunderstorms with torrential downpours and led to flash flooding across Long Island and portions of New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley. Deep standing water (estimated to be at least 6 inches) accumulated on Hylan Blvd. near Mount Loretto.
