Event Summary

With a stationary front parked south of Long Island, an unstable airmass produced thunderstorms in the New York City metropolitan area. Lightning struck a building in Bay Ridge and caused structural damage. A four story brick residence was struck by lightning, causing damage to portions of the roof. A two by three foot section of the brick roof was dislodged and fell to the street and sidewalk below. No injuries were reported.
