Event Summary

Narrative

A trough of low pressure moving east from the Appalachians during the afternoon, followed by a cold front approaching from the west at night, triggered isolated severe thunderstorms over Staten Island and Suffolk County from the afternoon of the 29th into the early morning hours of the 30th. Penny size hail and some downed branches were reported near the corner of Leverett Avenue and Steig Avenue in the Great Kills section of Staten Island.
