A passing upper level disturbance interacted with warm, humid air, at the surface to create Severe Thunderstorms across the Lower Hudson Valley from the afternoon and into the evening of the 22nd. Penny size hail was reported along the Pelham Parkway. Torrential rain caused the intersection of E. 193rd St. and Webster Ave. to be impassable.
