Narrative

An area of low pressure moved from Cape Hatteras to south of Long Island on the 8th. It produced heavy rainfall and caused areas of flash flooding and some small streams and creeks to exceed their banks. Rainfall amounts ranged from 1.5 to 3.5 inches over the Lower Hudson Valley and New York City Metro area. Heavy rain flooded multiple basements and closed numerous streets. Staten Island Railroad service was suspended as well due to flash flooding across tracks.
