Narrative

Anywhere between 2 and 4 inches of rain fell across New York City from late afternoon into the evening hours on June 2nd due to thunderstorms that tapped a very moist and unstable airmass. Central Park recorded 3.53 inches of rainfall. Flash flooding occurred on the FDR, causing it to be closed. Rainfall falling at the rate of nearly two inches per hour caused flash flooding of streets across Staten Island. Hylan Blvd was affected the worst with at least a foot of water being observed flowing swiftly down the street.
