Narrative
As a mid and upper level disturbance swung through the area, a line of heavy showers and thunderstorms developed and moved east across Southeastern New York, New York City and Long Island. Widespread rainfall amounts were between one and two inches, while isolated locations received as much as three to four inches of rain in as little as two hours. The New York City Office of Emergency Management reported water levels up to car doors on the Belt Parkway near Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn, local police reported significant widespread street flooding in the town of New Castle in Westchester County and on Route 25 between Peconic and Greenport in Suffolk County, and a trained spotter reported significant street flooding in Mattituck in Suffolk County.
